Hey again, i have recently returned from the Northern Territory which was rich with experience, Culture and learnings. Prior to going i bought a sony Z5 HD video camera and was fortunate enough to capture some of the journey and Elders stories.
Whilst being in the NT i witnessed the suppression being experienced by the Aboriginal communities under the 'Intervention policy' and the removal of the Racial Discrimination Act so it could be implemented. Both these actions by the Australian Government have been crippling not only for the ABoriginal People but also for anyone using a welfare system throughout the NT. Once everyone jumped up and down over the intervention policies the Territory government implemented the same basics card across the board so as not to discriminate...nice one NT. The bottom line is people are forced from their land again and relocated into sub towns so as the mining companies can access the minerals.
The Film 'our generation' got people talking and is a great film for awareness of the affects of the intervention. A Yolngu Elder and part of my family has asked me to work on a film that shows the Love, sharing of culture and knowledge and family units Aboriginal People have. This will begin in July next year through to August.
In the mean time i will be working on 2 short films called "Dreams" and "Boomerang" which will commence in february. Banajam productions will now operate under the name "Big Mob Films" and will become a voice for Cultures through Song, story and film.
In love and Light
